The Gospel According to Jason Bourne

Mike Metzger suggests that if your friends won’t read the Bible, take them to see The Bourne Ultimatum. In fact, if they haven’t already seen all of them, get them to watch the entire trilogy. From Bourne Again:

The Bourne Identity asks the existential question (“Who am I?”) according to film critic Manohla Dargis (formerly at the Los Angeles Times). He says the second film, The Bourne Supremacy was moral – “What did I do wrong?” The third installment, The Bourne Ultimatum, is redemptive according to David Denby of The New Yorker. It addresses “How can I escape what I am?”

  1. I hadn’t thought about the Bourne trilogy in that way before… It definitely works, though. As a whole, the Bourne trilogy is quite possibly one of the best stories I’ve seen on screen. One day I hope to get around to reading the books.
